The City of Greater Bendigo and Goldfields Library Corporation are proud to present the 2015 Sustainable Homes Program which features a range of free and interesting information sessions to assist people to make their homes more environmentally friendly.

City of Greater Bendigo Senior Environment Officer Anthony Sheean said sessions on composting made easy; what happens to your household recycling; wonderful worm farms, retro-fitting for sustainability, sustainable building design and heritage houses and sustainability will take place at the Bendigo Library from March until May.

“The program was very successful when it was introduced in 2014 and participants told us that they wanted to see more of these types of sessions in the future.

“This year we have again put together an interesting and varied program covering a range of topics from composting and worm farms to sustainable building design and retro-fitting environmentally friendly features to existing homes.

“It’s a great way to find out more information on sustainability and how it can benefit you and the environment,” said Mr Sheean.
Presenters will include ABC Gardening Australia’s Jane Edmanson, a popular presenter during the first Sustainable Homes Program.

Other presenters include local architects, Lucas Hogens and Simon Disler, Horticulturalist Ros Woodburn and the City’s own resident heritage advisor Megan McDougall.

The Sustainable Homes Program is suitable for both adults and children and will kick off at the Bendigo Library on Thursday March 19 and continue through to Thursday May 7.

To find out more about the program visit the Goldfields Library website www.ncgrl.vic.gov.au or pick up a brochure from the Bendigo Library at 251-259 Hargreaves St.
