| Desperate dog eats owner in Geelong, say reports |
Police made a gruesome discovery at a Geelong residence this week – the apparently savaged body of a 49-year-old-man who was last seen alive four weeks ago.
According to reports, the Norlane man's body had been severely mauled by his starving pet dog who was trapped inside with its dead owner.
A Victoria Police spokeswoman said they would not discuss details other than that the man was discovered "deceased inside the premises".
The spokeswoman said police officers had been called to a home on Sparks Street, Norlane, on Tuesday after neighbours reported persistent barking from a dog inside the home.
It is unknown when the man died and an autopsy will be performed to determine when, and how, the man died.
Police said the man, who had lived alone, was last seen four weeks ago and that he had not been reported missing.
There were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.
